Anyone heard of the latest SQ 744 AOG in FRA?
Apparently, Gnd eng found a gaping hole on the leading-edge
of the wing, during a walk-around check.
What is this? does this mean the aircraft flew all the way there
with a hole on it's wings?
Is SQ going to end-up like a 3rd world airline?
Flying aircrafts with holes and things missing.
Also Saw 2 SQ planes in the middle-east , AOG.
what is all this, 3rd world attitude.

Sounds more like a bird strike on finals to FRA that wasn't obvious to the crew when it happened, otherwise they would have reported it on shutdown to the ground engineers.
any more details on the matter?
FRA incident took place after sunset, so i doubt bird-strike
into FRA.
Maybe dept SIN.
As for long term parking, maybe.
Because SQ has no spares to repair anything these days.
Thanks to MEL.
Looks like CDL will be used soon, as more things go missing.
An apparent journey to the 3rd world status.

Why the axe to grind with SQ? Did they offend you in some way? Sure sounds like it. Perhaps they turned you down some time in the past??
There was no AOG in the mid east. Perhaps you could tell us where?
And finally, no bird strikes at night? I have had two at night, so it's not out of the realm of possibility....

Why are you trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, 422? It is indeed possible to hit a bird at night, eve more likely a bat. I have had a return to land after hitting one of these at night resulting in a few bent blades. A friend of mine hit a bird at 14,000' at night!! Don't ask me what it was doing there.
You're trying to sensationalise a routine event.

Stay away,422,you sounded very silly. SQ is not one of my fav airlines but what yuou said is an insult to the pilot fraternity. Are you a pilot? Or trying to be one and looking for someone to hire you?

satumare....an example of his/her aviation knowledge is evident when he/she added an 's' to the plural world 'aircraft' .... cardinal sin!
oh well looks like another nest of SQ lovers i've stubled upon.
Time to move on.
Thanks for the' no-info, you're dumb'
lecture.

The 744 at FRA had a bird strike either on takeoff from SIN or landing at FRA. The LE had a 4cm x5cm damaged area.
As far as two other AOG, there were none.
I guess that qualifies as your "gaping hole"
What other info would you like?
Thanks Phil,
More questions later.
As for now, i'll have a look in SHJ for clues if any...

SQ only operate 744F version through the middle east between Singapore and points in Europe. It is common to see more than one on the ground at the same time.
