AK's cadet pilot selection process is a joke.firstly, they'll ask u to play a PS2 game,Aero Elite:Combat academy to 'assess your psychomotor abilities'.then they will test ur IQ with an online IQ test taken from www.testcafe.com. i was like 'WTF?!' when i got to know this lolz

I totally agree with you Allwerp!
What do expect from a place run by "AIRFARTS"
Airasia will take anybody from anywhere with any background they are so short of crew. (BTW if they could they would make C152 pilots captains with 200hrs)
It is a place for those who want to build hours fast or those that can't get a job elsewhere. That is the plain honest truth of the matter.

Cap Wooblah !!
Obviously don't like AA ...don't ya
Give the chaps in there a break..... Am sure no check cap would've left a crew run on their own if they weren't competent enough.........That's why Check Captains are there for !! and from what I see AA is doing their best for their customers and the industry.
Talking about 152 Command and all that..... get a life and try to post something professional or don't !!
Could it be a commercial jealousy ?! or are we all Uni students on the net ?
My 2 cents worth

Dear all,
Just wondering if you have any news on whether airasia are recruiting for cadets? The website has vacancies for pilots with ATPL only. Has there been a recent newspaper ad?
Thanks in advance!

Do they also accept non-Malaysians then? I thought this wasn't the case at the moment. And how do you apply...just send your cv and stuff?

Hey Smooth Crim,
Are you blind, customers are delayed by several hours everyday. AA do absolutely nothing for their customers during delays, AOG's ect.
AOG hudraulics and airframe cracking seem to be the flavour of the day. Must be the super smooth landings.
Would you care to comment on why their QA manager and his team left???
Check captains in AA, what do rmaf know about airlines. Check captains to them is someone that gives them cheques!!!!!!!!
I reckon AA are a disaster waiting to happen. And guess what, many in AA agree. Certainly won't put my family on!!!!!
AA pilots seem to be applying all over the place, why??? Could it be that they finally realise that dandie fernandie is just full of it and that his promises over the years have been empty!!!!
MAS seemed to be very full during Chinese new year. AA had an average seat factor of 62%. Guess the public think that being on time is worth a few ringgit more.
Their EPS is now officially 2.0sen Transmile and MAS is in double figures to the left of the decimal!!!!!!!!! and published S.F is 70 odd percent. Their shares fell to 1.70 today, I wonder why???
What AA is, is a place to build hours left or right or right and then left and then leave to a real airline. It is an oppertunity for those that can't get employed elsewhere or those retired from a real airline and want to stay in KUL and have given up long haul.
I just hope that AA turns into a wonderful place for pilots and that dandie fernandie pays them 10K USD just so the airfarts stay there and do not join other airlines screwing our work places up with their cr@p.
Wooblah.

Guys!!
Pardon me I'm new...
I've been reading a lot of PPrune forums...here's my comment
Zapata is just asking for some tips for the test what are you guys Blah..blah about AA this and AA that... Probably those of you out there have achive what you want....like me and probably him have been chasing this pilot thing for years and years but never got the chance....
sometimes the way you guys say things is like u r on top of the world...remember there is always less fortunate people that you.
To answer Zapata, are you reffering to the English written test? The format will be similar to SPM English Paper 1...God its been years for me....how is the format?
I'm not to sure.... but I will be sitting for the first stage test on the 5th of March 2005. How bout you? (ZAPATA)
I am in the aviation industry as well but I dont talk without facts. You guys as professionals should show the interest and to inspire those who has the burning passion to become a professional pilot, not bringing them down. We are flyers!!! Companies are companies which has so many ups and downs. Why not talk about good things more...
As far as im concerned MAS has never called me..I went through all the test for SIA....just before medical i've been ask to go back..I am the only malay since day 1 of selection and if AA can offer me where i want to be I would serve them well...
Well wish me luck my fellow aviators!!!

Firstly, well done on getting with the MAS Cadet Pilot course. Personally, I feel you are in the best position to start an airline career as a 'golden boy' for the national airline. You do have good career prospects with MAS to fly short, medium and long haul flights on the most modern aircraft. That is what Air Asia cannot offer you, being a dedicated regional low cost carrier. Sorry SIA didn't work out but I think you are in the next best place if not, the best place being Malaysian!
Though I take note on many of you valid points on Air Asia, in all fairness to AK, for example, their "academy" near KLIA is actually a place called KLIA Consult, which are buildings which were used for staff training when the whole of KLIA was built years ago. It is not in the best state at all as it has been neglected for some time since KLIA opened. Air Asia have just only taken over part of the building and are still in the process of obtaining the whole of KLIA Consult to turn it in to their Academy. That of course will take some time to do and they will of course make the area and buildings a better place in future as they just rented over part it, already in that state. Unfortunately training is ongoing so we still have to bear with it in the not 100% condition.
Of course MAS being a very long term established national airline should have better facilities and even a better selection process. However I think that MAS's Simulator building is just about in the same poor condition as Air Asia's present 'academy'. And the MAS sim building will always be like that actually. It always has been. (apart from that small extended renovated area by the 737 Sim) The MAS Academey nearby is so much better and very nice. But if you want to talk about good buildings and cupboard and pantry, how about we talk about the SIA Training Centre. Which you would have seen on your final interview there. Now that's a really cool all in one training centre!
But Air Asia is not a "real" established national carrier. It will always be a low cost carrier and presently still relatively new.
While I agree with alot of the complaints about the company...let all the comments be fair where it is true. I just feel I should set the record straight about the academy which is not really the academy yet. They will get rid of the weeds and develop it once they legally own the buildings which are STILL presently looked after by KLIA Consult which is in a bit of a run down condition but jut ok lah. At least the airconditioning works for the classes, thank goodness! :O

I'd like to say thanks for commenting to my reply. I'll take note, but we are talking about Malaysia...what other choice we have..Tom is SQ, Dick is MH and Harry is AA...u said it yourself..If I would have the chance I would love to be a pilot in the company that Im working in now...That would really make my day...I mean the choices are limited...Im sure that any of them can offer us a good career and you as an individual sure would have the drive to expand and grow. Im sure when you have achived your dream as a pilot, would you stop there? I dont think so. We are humans, always want more and more...But I cant say much yet as I have not gone through the test.
Everybody has to start somewhere and I congratulate you for starting with our National Carrier. Wannabes are dying to be in your shoes..
At the end of the day all of us have the same mission which is to achive our dreams...
So guys any news on the English test...?
