The recent negative focus on insurance for the worlds airlines has been ill informed and lacking any consistance in the Hk media.

Hong Kong prides iteself in being a free market and commercially savvy. The fact that CX, Dragonair and AHK managed to secure private sector insurance, possibly the on airline to do so has saved the HK Tax payer from footing the bill.

CX, AHK & KA should be praised not ridiculed for doing this. The fact was they asked the Government to clear the way to back the insurance needs 'IF' they could not resolve the issue.

Had HK's airlines stopped flying due to a lack of insurance cover the media would have been calling for blood quite aprt form the ditruption it would have caused routine commerce throughout the territory.

The fact is that insurance remains an issue that in some cases has only been covered by stop-gap measures, mostly by Governments as the situation is so fluid.

So to the HK Media get the facts & story right.

These are indeed interesting times.

Excellent factual post but when did the SCMP and others ever let the facts or indeed any semblance of accuracy ever get in the way of
a 'good' aviation story.
