A friend of mine, who may be hired to fly a CJ2, would like to know if it's a JAR23 or 25 aircraft, and what is the minimum flight crew for private operations . The A/C will be registered in Europe (F or LX )
Many thanks

Citation II and CJ2 are different beasts - which one is it?

I agree with Chilli
The CJ2 is a JAR 23 single pilot HPA. The CII is a JAR 25 multi or single pilot HPA. However there are no longer any single pilot TREs in the UK for the CII.
JAR-FCL 1.215 and 1.220 and their annexes refer.

HPA - High Performance Aircraft
which is in case of the CII - a laugh....
there is a CIISP - Single pilot - MTOW 12500 - same airframe - different manual
(C550 - Citation II, C551 - CitationIISP)
CJ2 - a real performer, nice machine !
(C525A - CitationJet 2)

Is the C550 citation II (not the bravo) really such an easy aircraft (system wise and flying) compared to 'bigger aircraft' such as HS 125, DA20 etc.
Please any info would help.

I canīt really compare to bigger aircraft, cause the biggest Iīve flown is a C560...
But compared to a KingAir or a MEP A/C its a piece of cake flyingwise.
As for the systems, I think theyare really straightforward, easy to learn and even easier to handle. Its basically a Singlepilot aeroplane - that says it all. (even though JAR/EASA thinks, its a 2 man aircraft...)

Have flown many hours all over Europe single crew also was TRE/I for both single and multi crew - the flight manual on the aircraft will say if it has been cleared for single pilot operations this of course only applies to private operations some a/c have been given an increased MTOW which can still be flown s/c.

I stand corrected...biggles is right...however you canīt fly single hand commercially, whilst you are allowed to do so in a KingAir or Cheyenne (TP >5,7 tons...)

C550 - Not difficult to fly single crew be aware at FL410 its a long way down and not a lot of time if pressurisation lets you down - biggest problem is its slow and you are in the way between FL310 and FL390 which is where you get best fuel burns TAS ratios. I enjoyed flying these as much as any over short hops from London to Europe as much as any a/c flown - not at all a complex a/c just enjoyable.
