Hi Chap's & Chapess's

just managed to get a bargain ticket over to Miami and I'm flying out on Friday 21st Jan, for 8 days.

So, other than Chalks, can anyone direct me towards any operators of amphibious aircraft within the miami area of Florida?

I already plan to visit Week's museum, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale Exec, Boca Raton, Palm Beach and Taimiami but any info/contacts for photography and general suggestions would be most helpful.

I'm sure a weeks worth of winter sun will work wonders!

kindest regards

Perhaps not quite the amphibian you seek, but these pictures are of a plane on (in) a tidal lake near KOPA, Miami - 4 December 2004.

Hi Seacue,

nice one.

That's a pretty soggy Convair! Hope crew were OK.

Newspaper reports said the crew managed to get into a boat without getting their feet wet. The plane settled into the water slowly and water depth is reported to be 14 feet. Being a weekend, there were boats everywhere - they were lucky/skillful to not hit one - or the 30-storey apartment blocks nearby.

The initial picture on the front page of the Sun-Sentinel was better than those I linked to. It showed the appartment blocks. I can't find a link to it.

Try www.sun-sentinel.com . It's not a bad paper for a moderate-size US city (Fort Lauderdale and vicinity).

If you get as far as Key West there's a seaplane day trip to Fort Jefferson, an island about 80 nm west of there. Cessna 206s and 208s. It's a great day trip, leave about 11.00, back in Key West mid-afternoon.

Sorry! Web site link removed IAW 'policy'

While flying back from Key West in a C152 a couple of years go I saw a float equipped DHC-6 scoot underneath - think there is a seaplane base a couple of islands up from KW, probably just east of the NAS - might have been going there.

Hi Chaps,

thanks for that.

I'll have a look with my fingers crossed!

I'll let you know how I get on in a couple of weeks.
