Hi!
I’ve gone thru and passed the psychomotor test, waiting for the next stage and was just wondering:
1. For how long would I be bonded with MAS? If I decide to leave, what sum of money would I have to be compensating them? I’m assuming that it would be the cost of flight school which I’ve been told costs approx RM150k. Would this cost reduce according to the number of years I stay? …Say if I flew for 5 years, would the compensation sum be cut in half seeing that I would have made quite a sum in monthly repayments already.
2. I’ve heard that there were a significant number of MAS pilots who’ve left for other airlines such as Emirates. Did they have to pay-off before they left?
3. How mobile is a pilot in terms of getting a job? I know the salary paid by MAS isn’t anything to shout about, but is there such a thing in the industry as a ‘stepping stone’? i.e.: in the ‘real world’ we may work with a particular company for 3 years just for the experience and move on to better things. Would this apply to an airline pilot as well, or is it typical for pilots to be stuck with the same airlines till we’re old hobblers.
Thanks in advance for all your feedback
