SIA 777 Commands

I was wondering if anyone in SIA has any idea on how long before they will be calling forward potential candidates for interview. I submitted my application in July and had an e-mail response to say it was being reviewed and then....silence. I have since e-mailed a couple of times with no reply. Is this a case of no news is good news....

For your reference:

I submitted my application somewhere in August, and got called for my first interview on December thru` email. During my first interview, had a chat with some guys and realise some had sent their CV since one yr ago before the first interview. And some got it in just one month, hence I think there isn't any confirmed time-span for their reply.

Some of my friends whom sent during the same time as me havn't got any reply up to date too. Hence, you are still quite fortunate that they reply u with an reviewing email.

But after the first interview, it was a short wait to be called for the second according to my batch. We got a call the very next day to attend the 2nd and final interview cum tea party the week after. And the results are known immediately the next day if whether or not we should go for the medical.

Well, sorry for the short info, cause that's all I can provide as I'm now still in the waiting phrase after medical. Seeya soon and Good Luck! :)

PS: ermm.. I don't think it's a good idea to keep emailing the HR to request for status of your application. I feel that would only piss them off since they got so many applications to process each day. Especially after they advertised on Dec, it's gonna be more than before. Well, that's life, full of waiting... but at least SIA is VERY MUCH MORE efficient that RSAF. Anyway, last piece of note: carry on life as usual, do not let it tie you down so that you will not lose all hopes in the event it gets rejected, that's what I'm doing now.. Cheers!

After all interviews, tests and medicals are completed it takes at least three weeks to get your work permit approved by the appropriate government department as well as the time taken to follow up your referees, if they decide to do so. After that they will then review their requirements and see who they have in their "completed everything" pool, work out what start dates they want to offer, based on course availability etc. and start to make offers, not necessarily in order of the date you became "completed everything", either!

The only letter you are most likely to get within a week or two of your interview/medical is the one that says 'no thanks', you can wait up to a year to get a job offer.

Unless you have someone in SQ already who is prepared to put his neck on the line and push your application to the top of the pile then it a complete hit and miss business and like a raffle as to whether you hear from HR or not.
