I have been personally involved with the relief effort for the disaster victims in Aceh, Indonesia. The Airline I work for has been chartered by various relief organizations to bring supplies and volunteers to WITT (Banda Aceh). The devastation is massive and the death toll is close to 100,000 in Aceh province alone.

Aside from flying the relief mission I help run a logistical receiving center in Jakarta with the help of other Air Crew members and Indonesian celebrities. We have so far been able to distribute close to 20 tons of urgently needed supply to the region via Sea and Air.

At the moment what is needed is capacity to carry the aid from the various cities in Indonesia to Aceh province. As I am sure you all have been following the news and know that many aircraft from many nations are committed to the job at hand, but unfortunately it is still short in terms the supplies available and the number of a/c available to carry the load.

Here’s my thought: If any of you ppruner’s could talk to your respective operators or anyone you know in Airline management (Cargo/ pax) so they could donate flights to the troubled province. I am sure for many companies in many countries this type of cost could be deducted from their annual tax obligations. :ok:

New Info: My center has moved up to 50 tons as of today....6 Jan 05

freightdriver,
Btw, have they moved the triMG 732 with the collapsed gear off the runway at BTJ yet? This comes at a bad time I hope not too much damage occured and the aid flow and TriMG can resume.

I'm talking to a part135 operator to see if they want to provide handling and flight approvals for foreign part 135 operators wanting to operate here for the aid flights too...

We all got a part in this... Thank You World for your help...

Yup they did, they opened the field at around 5pm local time. Heard that the a/c is a total lost, no one is hurt and TRI-MG has the a/c insured for 2.5 Mil USD. Someone will be laughing all the way to the bank unfortunately....

I would like to offer my sincere gratitude to all airmen who has been part of this relief effort.
