Hi all,

Myself and a group of like minded aviation enthusiasts are looking at arranging the "Air Ball 2006" - the aviation equivalent of the Gum Ball car race which takes place every year.

Does this sound interesting to anyone and would it be something that you guys would consider taking part in if the pricing was right?

Hi KKP,

Not too sure yet.....looking at various options. Maybe looking at a group of GA aircraft doing a tour from the UK down to North Africa with a few party stops in between and back up through Spain Italy and France. May time it to stop over a selection of grand prix races and maybe the world cup in Germany.

Am going to try and keep everyone posted with developments.

Is this the car race where people say f**k all to speed limits and drive like idiots?
If so, where would that equivalent element of excitement be in an air race ?

Just curious ...

Also, if this is that car race, my picture of these people is that they are super-rich-bored-out-of-their-mind brats with a touch of maniac mixed in.
There are no such people in aviation ... right :}

Deice,

It would be like the car race......minus the idiots! As for where would the equivalent excitment be in the air....hhmmmmm........I'm guessing it would come from just that...being in the air! Some of us love flying and treat it as an everyday challenge and not just a job.

Kelas, perhaps a 500 foot scud run would get the juice going... ah, and breaking through som italian restricted areas perhaps :E

It's a fun idea though, even without the low-level stuff, and yes, excitement should be the flying. Perhaps points for accurate navigation as in the competitions ?

Keep us posted !

Hi deice,

Entering restricted italian airspace sounds like a good idea! :ok:

Points for accurate navigation also a great idea.....other categories will also be added!

Will keep you posted!
