Does anybody know about this? I'm really curious about this as AA has female cadet pilots but MAS has not even ONE female cadet pilot all these years.

I don't know if MAS has any gender policy when it comes to pilots. They have never hired a female pilot but they also never rule out any gender in their cadet pilot ads. Having said that, there is a lot not included in their cadet pilot ads, most importantly the fact that the entire cost of training will be borne by the cadet!
However, there was once a female candidate who went through the application process to be finally rejected because she didn't make the height requirement. I don't know if any other woman has ever applied since.

Obviously there is no ostracism. The question has been on the table: can LATC welcome some female cadets? The answer is yes, some options have been taken to face this eventual possibility.

Allwerp,
Really, I do not think you can make this statement. To my knowledge, there is no will to stop any female application from the MAS management, they are really open to this opportunity However, all applicants must fulfill the requirements without exception...
In all major airlines, nowadays female cadets are treated exactly as male cadets. In the past, it has been a mistake to use the female cadets as a promoting marketing product. It has been inducing some issues in the training. No special treatment, no special advertising...

Allwerp you are correct. Certainly whilst at MFA I had no Female MAS Cadet Pilots, I cannot answer you why, perhaps that will change as I hear Air Asia have some Lady Cadets. Maybe this will create some Career interest in Aviation for Girls.
Regard's,

I cannot tell off hand if there have been any females who have applied to become a cadet pilot. If there has been, let them speak out. If there haven't been any applicants, than the whole issue of MAS' stance is all just speculation.
Do any of you know of any females who have applied to become MAS cadet pilots?

I know a lady who applied twice to be a cadet pilot with MAS but no luck however she made it to the final interview with AirAsia :ok:
Hope she would pass the interview with flying colours.

Jebat,
What would I expect on a MISPA test in its cadet pilot scheme? I not expecting that it's anything i can or have to study for, but could you let me know in a nutshell?
THanks!

though there are no official policies regarding hiring of female pilots in MAS. i believe as long as the 'ole-boys' are still in management, there wouldn't be any paradigm shift in the near future. and thats the truth.
there was once a female applicant who outperform all the the other male counterpart, frankly, the office didn't know what to do! eventually, they came up with her 'insufficient' height as a reason (i recall she was just shy of a few mm from the required!). and let's face it, we have shorter than 'officially required' height pilots in MAS!
personally, i wouldn't mind a girl in the flightdeck!

I believe MAS did not have a policy on the recruitement of female pilots till the first female got through all the hurdles. Then it was found that her father was a captain who was in the bad books of flight ops management. After some dilly dallying she was rejected, ostensibly due to her height. Of course it was pretty obvious to all around what the real reason was ......... more so when we had pilots then who did not meet the minimum height requirement, as evidenced by the presence of the toad.
The only female who flew with MAS was an FO on a wet lease from Air UK. She had an Israeli passport and that was the end of it for her when the authorities found out.
If there is a policy today on female recruitement it is probably because the toad and his short cohorts want to prevent those who are vertically challenged from endangering their positions.
After all, they are fully cognisant of the fact that Malaysian females are generally shorter. And they know that almost all former DFOs were short.
Gut reaction from the toad ........ deny them entry.

from what i hear, the reason they don't take female pilots(MAS), is because of the Khalwat law. they dont trust putting one woman and a man behind a bullet proof, locked from the inside door, COCKpit. if you know what i mean.
btw that info was given by the SGM of Flight Ops MAS.
