Well Moderators there has to come a time when someone has to be brave enough to forget about the trade agreements to forget about how much money is to be made ( not for the Pilots I might add) but to talk up front and openly about working in China. A mate of mine has ended up in big  :} down there, best not to say what for............... and where was his Agency, licking arse with the Airline at the promise of more business. Yes it is lucrative to the Agencies but be WARNED there are Agencies and there are Agencies,,,
Ever heard of Huaxhan Technologies, HKG company who know nothing about Pilots and when asked if the Pilot would get Loss of Licence Insurance asked the pilot in a startled manner.
"Do you mean should you loose your licence on the street or leave it in a taxi "
Then we come to the more professional bunch or supposed ones.
lets be open here and talk about Direct Personnel, the Irish Bunch. "You must work for us because we give you an end of year bonus" Sure do matey they take it out of your salary and then pay you if you dont screw up.
The there is IAC , sign up with us so we can screw you for life....
Read somewhere about this Letter of Representation crap
Then there is PARC.... not for them this Chinese Lark.
Then there is CONTRACTAIR..... they dont nick your money, they pay you and deal with the consequences should you leave..... also they know China bit better than most. Not sure how they survive there, as not really corrupt enough.
Now who else can we rope in here...............
Rishworth Where are you. Oh yeah low balling in Indonesia.
So.. lets talk about the basics, now before everyone fights back at me yes there are nice Chinese and yes there are good guys, but basically they do NOT want you there. Why should they matey when you earn 4 times the amount they do for doing the same job. This is new for them and if they can pull a trick on you they will.
Then we have the Interview. Pay for your own ticket. The Medical, oh so you guys with a JAA Medical didnt know you had Hep B.. oh and you didnt know your blood pressure was not what it should be, in fact you should be dead....
Then the Sim check....all raw data, not saying that is bad but a bit of 50/50 would be good.
Now we come to the Chinese ATPL and 2,700 Multiple Choice questions. Translated from sad: Chinese to English.... Are you all awake out there........:hmm: :hmm:
And then the Chinglish test....... thats the English test.......
OK OK so that has done away with most of the applicants, but for the unlucky ones that passed. The b...............t has only just begun.....
So fire away at me, I personally like China , I like the Chinese people, even though in general they dont like us foreigners, but for those of you thinking about going dont want to put you off. But do for your own sake do your research and choose the right Agency to look after you.
It really really really is not good if you get into trouble out there, and it is easy to get into trouble for doing something that may be
very normal in the West............
This is a Learning process for them all, not saying it is intentional, but it certainly put my mate off for life.... Remember Hotel in China is Hostel.... etc etc etc.. Anyway could go on some Airlines are trying to choose their Agencies selectively, some just go flat out and bring them all in...... This is not for the faint-hearted believe me. By the way this is not me, this is from my mate who has just arrived home. He is so utterly defeated that he asked me to post this..... so for all you wannabes be warned. If you like an adventure go for sure, if you dont and want to remain a professional stay. By the way they have some nice sites and beautiful countryside to see..... it is a spectacular country.. my wife and I did the big tour last year.......
Anyway whatever happened to that honest Oz guy from Hainan, who used to tell us all how wonderful it was. Heard he had left had enough... says it all really. Good luck to the brave..........
By the way had to have a pop at the Agencies, after all at the end of the day the ball very firmly lands in their court. These are the guys who can make it of break it for you. If I have upset any of them tough....... you should be more professional there is enough work out there for all of you....
