View Full Version : FAA-Malaysian Conversion ferrydude 3rd November 2004, 23:28 Anyone done one recently? SuperRanger 4th November 2004, 06:06 best to contact MFA at http://www.mfa.edu.my/ malaysian eaglet 4th November 2004, 15:05 MFA is overcrowded. Try also LATC (04 953 2000), they are just starting the operations in December and the flying school is not too busy for a while. ferrydude 5th November 2004, 12:27 Thanks Guys! Maybe I should have stated validation instead of "conversion". I was hoping to walk into the DCA office and exchange one for one! SuperRanger 7th November 2004, 07:02 sorry to disappoint you but from FAA -> Msian, i'm pretty sure Msian DCA wants you to do a conversion i.e. flight test... if it's from OZ or UK than only Airlaw & Perfomance A (OZ). WLM 8th November 2004, 15:23 Ferrydude Well I presume this will be your initial validation. The legal requirement changed at beginning of Nov and here is the lastest: Covering letter from sponsoring operator Copy of DCA approval letter for recruitment Copy of DCA security approval letter (takes up to 6 weeks) Copy of immigartion work permit for CPL employment (takes up to 6 months) Completed DCA application form (DCA 3-Val) Valid Foreign licence Medical validity of foreign licence Proof of Proficiency/competency on aircraft type to be validated ( at least 400+ hours on type) Flying logbook ( with 1000+ hours as bare minimum) Letter of your foreign Civil Aviation with contact name and numbers for DCA to activate verification Any other documents as required by DCA Basically DCA is trying very hard to reduce foreign pilots in this country. I suggest you have a very prominent sponsor/ employer requiring your services. Good luck...Forget about walking in DCA office and walking out with your validation the same day..just does not happen. Done renewals 4 times now..:E |
