Just curious to know as I look at the different Asian carriers as to the Minimum hours required for F/O entry at Royal Brunei.....

No need to bag them..... Just want to get an idea.:) :) :)

The last I heard it was just a type rating on B767 or A320. Recruitment I think is still carried out thru Rishworth. No real hours requirement for First Officer that I know of. It could be worthwhile for a year to get 899 twin jet hours but read the myriad of comments on other threads about RBA carefully. Senior Training Captains are leaving for First Officer positions with low cost outfits. That should tell you something.

Yeah TA...it tells me the guy wants to live with his wife and kids and has residency issues that cannot be addressed living in Brunei. He also changed his mind several times because he was not sure and has enjoyed the last 10 years in RBA.

The vast majority of stuff on that 'other' thread is either plain BS or at the very least taken out of context or misquoted...rather like your senior training captains leaving for F/o positions in LCCs...yes one or two have but the reason is not that RBA is a disaster area.

RBA is not what it perhaps was 10 years ago....please give me a list of places that are.

Asia is predicted by all and sundry to be the big growth area in aviation into the forseeable future...my 'glass half full' view is that here is the place to be and that things may improve at quite a few different airlines....and I could not stand the sandpit :ok:

Agreed that the industry is not what it was 10 years ago. But I think the question that might need asking is where does RBA rank against other airlines nowadays compared to how it ranked against similar airlines 10 years ago. That should be what is causing concern. People are leaving to join airlines they wouldn't have considered just a few years ago. Glad to see that some are still happy in the abode though. Horses for courses! TA
