Just idle speculation but:
1. What crewing criteria are used for UK registered King Air aircraft, i.e. Single or dual crew?
2. What is the earnings potential as a King Air pilot in the UK?
3. If I fund my own rating, are there many opportunities in the UK at present with regard to employment?
any answers would be appreciated.
cheers

I don't know much about King Airs myself. But I do know a man who does.

King Airs (90/100/200) in the UK operate mostly under single crew operations according to JAR-OPS. Some operators have retained 2 (type-rated) crew for public transport operations, others have a Pilot's assistant (non type-rated). The 350 model requires 2 crew for public transport because it is +5700kg.
Earnings vary from 100 day rate freelance co-pilot to 40k p.a. for a captain.
Getting a job on a King Air is like any other pilot job. You need luck, persistance, skill and a good contact.
Hope that helps.

As said some AOC operators have retained a two crew AOC. Normally these are ambulance operators or those who have extended sectors frequently and are deemed necessary by the CAA. If you have a 2 crew AOC it must always be operated 2 crew, you cant mix and match. Your main problem will be experience and insurance. Operating on an AOC you will need min total time in excess of 700 hours before the CAA will even consider single crew capt IFR. If you have this then the insurance company want hundreds on TYPE (or similar turbine i imagine). Of course its a single crew aeroplane so you cant log P2 and the insurer wont let you be in command, so you cant build time to operate as capt. Catch 22 again. In short unless you can definately secure an FO position to build the hours it could be a dead end type rating.
