I' m wondering if there are any EK crew that can help me with this one

How do the living conditions in the EK crew buildings compare with QR?
Do non crew members have to sign in and out?
Do male / female friends have to leave the buliding by a certain time in the evening?
Can friends who come to visit you from home stay in your appartment?

Any info would be a great help

Thanks

dollydorris,

You don't say if this is for flight crew or cabin crew as this will make a diff. No regulations/restrictions for the guys......plenty for the cabin crew!Yearly restriction in number of visits/required to sign in visitors/no guests after 1am/no pets........the list goes on i'm afraid!

Hi, I don't know how conditions compare to QR but when I was cabin crew with EK there were quite a few regulations as far as visitors to your apartment. Visitors were required to sign in and out at the desk downstairs and the security guy would call you after 1am if they were still there. This happened a few times with my boyfriend(now my husband!). While I was there EK brought in the crew housing allowance for those crew who wanted to live out. I took advantage of this and moved in with my boyfriend however this can be a risky move as for one, you aren't really supposed to live with a member of the opposite sex unless you're married(although many do and never have a problem with it). Also, if things don't work out with whoever you move out with then it's pretty hard to move back to company accommodation. I know when I was there it was a fairly new initiative so some crew were allowed back after moving out but they may be stricter about that now.

As far as accommodation goes, my flatmate and I had a great apartment. I started out living with an Aussie girl who'd been at EK five years when I arrived(I'm also Australian) but moved out to be with a friend from my training group(a great Greek girl). I may have been charged for that initial move but I can't remember so don't quote me on that. Each of you have your own bedroom and bathroom but you share the living areas - all fully furnished which is great. Utilities are included except telephone bill, which can be very expensive! The building itself had a gym, swimming pool and sauna. The company provides a crew shuttle to ferry you from work to home so all in all it was a nice deal and that was something I missed when I moved out.

Anyway, hope this answers some of your questions.
