View Full Version : Major Change - Qatar Airways

A300Man

I have been given very solid information that a major "top level" change will take place at Qatar Airways within the next few weeks. It would appear that recent indiscretionary behaviour by a high profile "officer" of the Company, resulting in tarnishing the name of the Carrier and the State, (particularly the latter, resulting in Ruling Family intervention) has brought about this decision.

I am informed that a replacement from "within the industry" is being sought and that this replacement "will almost certainly be a thoroughbred candidate with extensive major carrier management status".

((In airline circles, QR - through the recent actions of a senior person - has gained a reputation of being a company riddled with corruption. Hence the intervention of the State of Qatar and the resultant actions described above.))

This is sad for all concerned.

.........there is also a rumour, that the said "top officer" has been offered a responsible position with Etihad !!??

Any feedback ???

The real story is .......
That AAB is getting replaced by one of the Royal family whos been training in QR for quite a while in many departments ...... whos aparently a very smart NORMAL human being .......
Hope this comes SOON :D

Not wishing to offend the Royal Family, but if and when they replace AAB it should be with a professional airline manager. This should be someone who has seen the inner workings of other airlines and not just the poisoned ways of QR. Then, when that manager departs, by all means pass it on to the owners.

Sound like QR is going to be in for change soon. Good luck to you as this could prove to go either direction, good or bad

It will be interesting to see if these rumours became true ...but knowing that various rumours about the guy being replaced etc...have been circulating for the last several years...I am afraid that won't happen since the guy is signing deals and getting pictures in the paper..he is toooooooo strong and well established , he is runing tourism in the country, hotels , malls and is well known in the entire area on a personal basis by big fish..that will protect him..and in the end this is HIS airline....good luck to all of us...don't want to sound pesimistic but if something was coming it would have come right after the above mentioned events..no evidence was found and all accusations dismissed

Well, according to a senior CSD with the company, he is still there!! And doesn't appear to be moving just quite yet! Ah well, back to the drawing board eh?

well, with the backing of a senior Royal, I too have my doubts about AAB' departure!

Being Friday, if he's still around, he'll be roaming the tarmac harassing ground staff for pax information, flight attendants for their hair colour and looking for pilots without their caps on! Very productive.

i hope he has gone and the crew can breathe again...

Word is out that they are looking actively now for a replacement of AAB. Whether this is good or bad.....everybody has his own opinion.

It might take some time considering the amount of fuctions the man had.

AAB will make an appearance in public in Doha soon during one of the business forums, maybe he will reveal something there.

Replacement is being looked for in the international market....so maybe somebody with experience in the field...

Lets hope so because otherwise I do not see the point of replacing him, not if its just going to be a guy being given the seat just because he comes from the right tribe or family...

To be continued....

Good news...Good news....

I dont think so mate!

If what you say is the truth then AAB will be replaced by a member of the Royal Family!

As far as I know ( and that is pretty far...) there is no member of the Royal family with any experience in aviation managment untill today besides the Minister of foreign affairs himself!

And I doubt it very much that this gentleman himself will take over from AAB.

So as far as I am concerned, if they are going to replace AAB with just other thoroughbred from the Royal family I would opt to keep AAB in place untill they find a REAL replacment ( style J.Hogan at GF).

QR time at the playground is over, it is becomming a big airline and we are currently stretched to the limit meaning.....with the team we have in place now we have reached our maximum capacity in almost every aspect of the business!
If now QR replaces a keyposition like AABs one and puts an unexperienced guy there we for sure will be heading for disaster!

And believe you me, we came allready close to that several times...

To be continued!

Latest news - Qatar Airways WILL have a new CEO very soon. Replacement will not simply be a member of the Royal family, but will include an industry professional at the helm of the new management team. One of the Ruling Family members WILL form part of the team though.

Insha'allah is the norm, however. Wouldn't be put off by the use of this local terminology at the end of any statement.

(By the way, where is Bob Ayling these days................?)

Ayling would have the desired effect methinks! People like the Snake and his ilk would not survive under a decent regime.

He will still be here! I heard Siddiqui and Hadrumi or Ansari will be taking part of the responsability from Akbor "Flight Micro-Mgmt"
(another desk to be add) And by the way Barabara will be fine! but do you honestly think that the local aviation community will allow this nice lady to run the show???

At any rate! The amount of Riyal numbers that he has invested in the company, will allow him to remain the airline top CEO's in Qatar. No BS!

So don't dream A300man!:(

He was giving recognition by an HH main Royal family members duirng the annoucement in the VIP lounge.
Qatar Airways flights to Seychelles from Dec 1

Akbar Al Baker
Doha: National carrier Qatar Airways will launch flights to the paradise islands of the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean from December 1. The airline will operate four weekly flights between Doha and Seychelles, which is a popular tourist destination, during the busy holiday season.

The announcement comes as Qatar Airways gears up for an exciting few months with the launch of new routes, including Johannesburg and Osaka. Once thought as the original site of the ‘Garden of Eden’, it is easy to see why the Seychelles have been added as one of the ideal destinations on Qatar Airways’ rapidly growing route network. The diverse and tranquil islands of the Seychelles make up 115 islands scattered over one million square kilometres in the Indian Ocean, providing immaculate white-sand beaches, lush, tropical forests and spectacular diving spots.

“Qatar Airways is keen on establishing a route network that is as diverse in its selection of destinations as possible, to give our customers greater freedom of choice when selecting holiday getaways,” Akbar Al Baker, Chief Executive Officer, Qatar Airways, said.

“There are few places on earth that can still be described as paradise, but the Seychelles certainly fall into that category, making it one of the most sought after destinations for travellers seeking complete serenity and tranquil. Qatar Airways understands the needs of its passengers, from leisure to business travellers, we aim to fulfil the requirements, which is why we have sought an aggressive growth plan that has taken us to being an airline of choice providing 53 worldwide destinations in only a short time span of a few years. With the addition of direct flights to the Seychelles, we are certain that we will continue on this successful path to maintaining our reputation as the fastest growing airline in the world,” Akbar, noted.

Qatar Airways will be flying to the Seychelles four times per week. Flight QR700 will leave Doha at 8:30am on Tuesdays and Saturdays, arriving in the Seychelles at 2:30pm local time, and flight QR702 will leave Doha at 9:45pm on Wednesdays and Sundays, arriving in the Seychelles at 3:45am local time.

Return flight QR701 leaves the Seychelles on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 8:15pm arriving at Doha International Airport at 20 minutes past midnight, local time, and flight QR703 leaves the Seychelles at 7:45am on Wednesdays and Sundays, arriving in Doha at 11:50 am, local time.
