I have recently been placed in the Emirates 'hold pool' for an interview and I have some questions for anyone in the know at EK-
1) Just how significant is this? The email EK sent me to inform me of my status was clear in stating that being in the hold pool was not a guarantee of an interview. So does being in this 'hold pool' really mean much or am I still in competition with thousands of other pilots? Just what percentage of people in the pool get interviews anyway?
2) What is a typical wait time for people in this pool for getting an interview (assuming an interview is ever offered)?

Thanks.

It means your CV has met the minimum requirements to get an interview. Remember, everyone looks the same on paper.

The length of time you will spend in the hold pool depends on how competitive you are relative to your peers. If you are honest, you can probaly judge that yourself. A guy who just meets the minimum requirements is likely to spend longer in the pool than a 777 rated Captain with 1,000hrs command. All of the scoring areas have ceilings though so that 20,000 hrs doesn't make you appear better than an 8,000hr guy; just more in need of sleep.

Hi

it took me a year to get into hold pool.I have 5000 hrs on B737NGs.I think it will take quite a long time until I will be offered an interview in my case. Also theres a chance of falling down from the bottom of the pool if more experienced pilots keep applying.I hope this doesnt happen.
What is your experience level?Just curious.
I spent a holiday in DXB last summer to see what it looks like.in my opinion its a nice place to live.(at least better than my country & company)

Good luck.
