This topic is mainly for Canadians in the ME, but if you fly in the ME and are from anywhere else, feel free to add your comments in. I am wondering once you arrived in the ME, besides your type rating, checkout, were you required to do any license transfers or upgrades? Is the licensing system there JAA? FAA? or do they accept your Canadian license? Thanks!

Hi, flew there a few years back, depends on the country...

Where I flew, they had a licensing authority that was converting their laws and suprisingly enough, it was exactly like the CARs, not the FARs...

Had to do a written along with a checkride...Very basic! Unfortunatly, I received the study material in Arabic! They were out of English copies (understandable!) Team up with a few guys from Spain and UK and we all passed with 90%+...

My only prolem was scheduling my checkride...The only guy available charged a fortune, way beyond what the company had planned to pay for...

Cheers
