I heard a story today that a Russian operator got shot at when departing Baghdad airport. According to the story they got shot at just after take off. The sam hit their wing so they decided to RTB and to make things worse they got hit by small arms fire.

Does anybody know if this story is true and where it happened. I can hardly imagine they got shot at in the green zone WSW of 15L.

Does anybody know the details where it happened and what altitude the small arm fire hit them? Appearantly they were on a downwind leg.

The decision to unload the acft and return to Sjarjah would almost make you think they flew a downwind over the city.:ok:

Hey freightdog

If you fly low low level on Down wind at Baghdad then you are looking for it.

Don't know anything about it. Will try and find out. Will be interesting to know what happened (and exactly where) for own future refference.

Does any of the security or Military at the airport know anything?

I'll take a look next time I'm over ORBI is it on the west/east of the airport. Nobody knows something it started as a rumour but there's a story a second AN12 got shot at al Asad or Talil.

All i know is that the airport is been attacked from the Faluja site of the airport, which makes sense. Other than that no info what so ever.

BTW Hot Shots guess you fly for Rossair do you guys get any security updates via the company?
