Any update ? First rumour in September was that LPL was likely to close in January, then a rethink - is the change still happening on Jan 10? Another thread states Emerald are making redundancies because of this. Apparently though
the trade union -the CWU- think their jobs are safe at LPL - does anyone know what has been decided ?

As I understand it the contract for the mail flights was awarded to Channex and Titan. I assume that they will be using A300s, 737-300s and 146s. Does anybody have any idea of the routes structure yet? Information would be appreciated.

Was recently advised by Post Office at Gatwick that Chanex are to run 2 F27s out of Gatwick on mail flights for the foreseeable future during 2004.

So much for the 'joke' of jet operations only, put forth by the Royal Mail. If Chanex can decide to continue to use turboprops, why can't BAC Express and Emerald continue doing their routes as well?

Or was it a stitchup from the start?

Jafy, its a pity your 'contact' at the Post Office didn't fill you in properly. The Skynet operation will be fully 'Jet' once everything is in place, but as it was the PO themselves who 'moved the goalposts', its little wonder the 'jets' are not yet in place. There is nothing to stop JEM or RPX picking up some adhoc work from the Skynet main contractor, is there?
