Do any of you guys out there work freelance. By that I dont mean ad hoc daily contract but full time employed for someone but as a freelance / self employed.
My interest is in the matter of liability. e.g. if the a/c gets dinked whilst under your command can the owner hold you liable. Perhaps he could argue that he is buying your services and therefore has no responsibility for you, even though you are contracted to him full time.
What other implications are there? I realise the potential with regard to the self-employed versus PAYE question.
cheers

N2G2,

I personally have always been self employed. The liability aspect realy depends on how the contract is worded.
Normally it is mutualy beneficial as it saves the employer at lot of liability concerning you and it will save you a lot of tax.

NA2G2,

I think that was a retorical question:

By that I dont mean ad hoc daily contract but full time employed for someone
is what you write and that is exactly the IR will see it.

Employed.

You may get away with it but as soon as they have a closer look they will tell you that this is the way forward.

Suspect the mutual benefits will soon become a mutual liability.
