View Full Version : Best London-Area Airport to Base a BBJ/ACJ and Why?

Just curious.

Let's say that I won the $1 billion lotto and bought a BBJ to be based in the London area. Let's also assume that my own location did not matter within London - I would be equidistant from all airports (yeah, I know that is not likely - assume I use a helicopter to get to my BBJ anyway...).

So, which of the following airports would be the best for my new BBJ/ACJ:

1. Luton
2. Farnborough
3. Northolt
4. Stansted

So, which would be the preferred location (assuming I had access to each airport) and why?

Related questions:

1. Are some of the above airports more BBJ friendly than others?
2. Are some airports better equipped in terms of hangers or other facilities?
3. Which airport currently has the most BBJs based there?
4. How many BBJs/ACJs are based in the UK (estimate)?
5. Also, which of these airports is visited by the most non-UK BBJs/ACJs on an annual basis?

Thanks for the info. It's nice to dream...

Cheers

FBO Signature at Luton has just built a new hangar that can take 5 BBJ’s at a time. Also Luton is the only London airport that is open 24 hours and has slots 24/7

Currently, only one a/c of this size is based at Luton (G-OMAK, A319, with Harrods Aviation). However, a BBJ2 is rumoured to be arriving (see this thread (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=102869) ).

Usually, Signature have between up to half a dozen aircraft of this size visit per month.
