BT have just sent me a mail to 'upgrade' to the bt/yahoo broadband service. Billing and other things don't change, just the homepage it seems. They give me all the speil saying it will improve my surfing by offering all these services for free like a pop-up killer, anti-spam and virus protectection a firewall and parental controlls.
SO WHAT they offer this, i have most anyway and if I wanted Yahoo services I would go to thier web-site.
Happens that I don't so I don't see the point in all of this. All I do is pprune and look at football stuff. I have been on-line for years now so the novelty has worn off a bit.
There must be more to it than simply BT joining up with Yahoo. Does anyone have any thoughts why this is happening...????

I have been told that it is a direct attack against AOL's market share by offering a similar mixture of content and actual Broadband service, like AOL does.

And I suspect it is also something to do with HM's disatisfaction at the slow(ish) uptake & availability of Broadband in the UK.
