Hi all, whist at work at LGW on Friday a red cessna (152 I think) came over north terminal and cargo sheds at around 500-750 feet and then descended behind some trees around the charlwood area. what would this be?! private strip that close to Gatwick?! or was it a forced landing? seemed a little strange...

Yes, I believe the Aviation Museum at Charlwood do have a grass strip, recall seeing it in a Pooleys guide at one time, not sure they could have landed those Shackletons on it though...

Vallance By Ways is the place you are refering toNNw of gatwick by about 350 feet! Very difficult to get permission to land there, A From Gatwick ATC, andB the owners as they have a limited number of movements allowed per year.

Thanks Bovver,
Makes for interesting (yet slightly concerning) viewing when you're 8 floors up and about 1/2 mi away!
