Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

H to A

While I wait months for a response from the CAA, I thought I may ask here.

What I have;
CPL(H) with a multi engine IR, 2300 hrs including 1500 multi engine multi pilot time.
PPL(A) with 170 hours.

What I want;
CPL(A) with multi engine IR......

Can anyone let me know what training is required, and, if any of the required training be carried out in a level D Simulator..? At an approved ATO with a CAA examiner..??

Thanks

The CAA no longer answer questions like that , so you may be in for a very long wait. ATOs are there to provide answers. The regulation is here for you to read.

Theory: you need to pass 5 exams at CPL level (ATPL level of you want to work for an airline)
Your route is pretty easy: 6 hours of multi engine training (you don't need to take the MEP test unless you specifically want to fly pistons) then 10 hours to convert your IR(H) to (A) then 15 hours for the SE CPL course.

In fairness I am in the same boat as the OP and the CAA did answer my question on this topic just 2 weeks ago. OP you have a PM
