Examining with suspended medical.
Pretty sure that I know the answer but cannot find it written down anywhere, but can an examiner carry out revalidations on a candidate whose ratings are still current, if the examiner does not hold a current medical ? Must be somewhere in CAP 804. Have heard of an examiner conducting revalidations but not renewals or initials whist medical was suspended but surely can't be legal !

For the licence to be valid, an appropriate current medical certificate is necessary.
So unable to exercise the privileges of the licence without a medical, together with the associated ratings, and authorisations etc
The exception is in an approved simulator conducted by a SFE.

FCL.1000 Examiner certificates
(a) General. Holders of an examiner certificate shall:
(1) hold an equivalent licence, rating or certificate to the ones for which they are authorised to conduct skill tests, proficiency checks or assessments of competence and the privilege to instruct for them;
(2) be qualified to act as PIC on the aircraft during a skill test, proficiency check or assessment of competence when conducted on the aircraft.

Exceptions can be made. Around 18 or so years ago I did my instructor renewal with an FIE who had cancer and therefore obviously no medical. I believe he had to fight hard to get the exemption though. Sadly died a year later.
