CAA info on instructor rating providers
I'm contemplating revalidating my instructor rating after a break. I find that the CAA website is now utterly useless in locating who/where the training providers are that can do FI revalidation. Does anyone know where I can find the list of approved training organisations?

Before you can renew your FI that has expired for some time, you will need to attend a Seminar. If you Google Flight Instructor Seminars you will get a selection of providers. It is not simply a case of going to a training proivider any more.

How would you get to it if you didn't know what it's title was?
List of Flight Crew Standards Documents
To renew an expired FI certificate, you will need to comply with FCL.940.FI:
(c) Renewal. If the FI certificate has lapsed, the applicant shall, within a period of 12 months before renewal:
(1) attend an instructor refresher seminar;
(2) pass an assessment of competence in accordance with FCL.935.

Thanks IIAB. The CAA website seems to have become a lot less intuitive than it used to be and the standards documents are much more difficult to find so that link's v useful.
AFAIK the reval requirement has always been refresher+test - certainly was the last time I did it.

seminars are available from pooleys shoreham, andrewsfield essex, on track warwickshire, AOPA london, loads more if you google it, around £300 for a 2 day course, go to an instructor school, theyll assess your needs, maybe up to 10 hours if youre GA current at about £200-260 per hour, then a 90 minute test with a FIE, probably another £300 test fee plus aircraft. Its not just the flying, knowledge is checked too, be prepared to give a 30 minute lecture on the a subject of the examiners choice at a few days notice, anything from forces in the climb, fog, fronts, for example
