ATO and MEP Renewal?

Quick question.................have tried the search function but it doesn't seem to do too well with a three letter word.

Though I do not full time instruct and examine any longer, I still do the occasional bit of work for a school here and there and am still current.

I have a chap that wants his MEP renewed.

It has lapsed by two years. He flies a small multi engine turbine for a living and has many hours in such.

He will not, in all probability, require much, if any, preparatory training for a renewal other than a really thorough briefing.

Can I conduct a MEP skill test (renewal) for him privately....i.e. not under the aegis of an ATO?

Any help appreciated thanks........seem to spend most of my time reading AOC junk, drowning in paperwork and not up to speed with the latest EASA missives.

Yes, but before you do it, he must present you with a Course Completion Certificate SRG1119D that can only be signed by an ATO. You must also be current on the aircraft type used for the test. Differences training on a MEP is only valid for 2 years.

My situation is identical, current on a small turbine aircraft that has been converted from piston.

I think the aircraft used for the renewal must also be approved by an ATO?

Thats for the Head of Training to decide.......

Yes you can as Whoppity says, however most ATO's will provide the examiner if they have also provided the course completion certificate and any training required by the Head of Training. We don't take on people for assessment and possible training in that situation and then let them test with an external.
