Class 2 with OML

I have just had a student turn up for training with a Class 2 medical that has an OML for must fly with a suitably qualified safety pilot with dual controls.

This is abinitio training rather than a down grade on an existing licence holder.

I have never seen this before!

I can't work out how we can train them as we won't be able to do any of the solo??

Comments?

OML is not a Class 2 limitation. See AMC/GM to Part MED. The correct ones are OSL, OPL or the new combined version ORL.
In the OSL situation it may still be possible for the pilot to fly solo, at least until April 2018 on an EASA aircraft, using a Group 1 GP Declaration.
