Attending an IRI course with a restricted FI rating
Greetings
It seems to be hard to get a straight answer to this question so I wanted to ask if someone can clarify this for me here.
I have a restricted FI rating and more than enough IFR hours required, can I attend an IRI course even though I'm still restricted ?
Regards, To2

There is no requirement to be an FI at all to attend an IRI Course however; the entry requirements are quite different. In order to qualify for an IRI course you need 800 hours under IFR; a FI only requires 200 hours under IFR.
Nothing in the regulation prohibits a FI(R) from completing the IRI course on the basis of 200 hours IFR however; National Authorities appear to have grouped together and require 800 hours under IFR if the FI is Restricted.
In the UK there are less stringent requirements for the same course to teach for the IMC rating stated in CAP 804
