A Welsh Flight Instructor Society would be great, who needs loads of members anyhow, as you said us Taffs are exclusive and unique anyhow!!! Where are you from in Wales by the way? I'm a Pembroke Boy.
Where is pjdj777 based?
Well it's good to know we have one of our own running things on Pprune. Motto's for the Society?? No idea "Wales forever" (In Welsh of course),Taffs Inc., Cymru CFI, hopefully you've got some better ones!!

A welsh instructors society, eh? Not a bad idea. I don't qualify, though I do instruct in Wales, but I'm sure there would be plenty of willing compatriots out there for you. Doesn't look like they visit the Instructor Forum, though.
In any case FlyTaff, it struck me about your original post that you're living in the wrong country to talk about beer, and come from the wrong country to talk about rugby!
I'm sorry, I couldn't resist it. Only a joke, I assure you!
Good luck
Ivan.

Ivan you are so right the Beer is like water and the Rugby sucks!!! As for American sports what a load of crud!!!
I have found a good Irish pub here in St Louis though and the Guiness and Murphys ate half bad and I also get Fox World sports and BBC America on cable which keeps me up to date with the UK news and the Rugby!!!
Where do you instruct in Wales by the way?? There's not to many places, Cardiff, Swansea, Haverfordwest and maybe Welshpool? How do you like the flying in the UK??? I know the Haverfordwest aerodrome pretty well as I'm from Pembroke and I know the training school in Cardiff abit too.
The flying here is really good and with little restrictions, you'll have to try it one day.

Well I think we could have a grade of membership for non-Welsh FI's whom work in Wales.
pjdj777 is a bit of a Valley boy last seen near Gloucester...
I am from Welshpool and worked there during 1999.
I think the motto should include something about us flying for the love of sheepskin seats...

Yeah it would be nice if we could include Non-Welsh FI's as Honorary Members as long as they work in Wales. I would love to be back in Wales working as a pilot but money was a factor in my descision to train in the US.
"Flying for the love of sheepskin seats"- I like it!!
So pjdj777 is a valley boy, good stuff, from the Rhonda/Cynon most likely and your from Welshpool well it's good to meet you guys see yer later,

To Robione and JWF,
of course you Boyo's would be welcome to join the Welsh Instructors Society!!! Either of you have lived in Wales, trained in Wales or parents are from Wales, so I really can't see a problem!!!!
As you probably already know I instruct in Saint Louis, USA but I would love to come back and fly a airplane in Pembrokeshire where I'm originally from. Maybe I can meet up with you guys for a few beers in June when i'm home, who knows?? Anyway lets hope that WWW can set up a Forum for us Taffs as he's already got a great motto.

I live in Wales and wanna be a heli instructor, does that count? Can I join?
In competitions in the National Eisteddfod you have to either have been born in Wales, live there, or speak Welsh - if that's good enough for them....

Where you from Whirlybird, your not from up North where the Taffs burn English houses!! Just kidding I'm from West Wales and I'm sure you'd be welcome to join our society. We're slowly building a bit of a following here and we have WWW as a leader so that ate half bad!!!

Yes Flytaff, I live in North Wales, but I tell everyone I'm adopted Welsh, and since I can tell them in fluent Welsh that usually leaves them gobsmacked - so I don't think anyone will burn my house down; they're too busy trying to remember the Welsh word for "adopted"

I don't instruct, but I have been known to fly out of Caernarfon more than once! Not done so recently, cos the folks there seem to have gone all unfriendly. Pity, cos it's a lovely spot.
I have a little home up in the mountains of the Tre'r Ceiri, where they burn English homes unless you buy a round in the local pub once in a while.
Iechyd da!

And there was me thinking this thread would just bring a deafening silence.
Perhaps we can extend the concept. A Welsh Chapter of BALPA... A Taff Division of the IPA... Co-Pilot Cymru edition... Transair catalogues featuring velcro fronted flying suits...
