easyJet dump Menzies @LGW
Heard on the grapevine today that Menzies have been dumped by easyJet @LGW.
Who's the new provider going to be? |
They certainly have apparently DHL are doing the job.
|
Confirmed to Gatwick based crew today, Menzies will be working up to 31st October alongside EZY and DHL. From 1st November DHL will take over.
|
Is this Easy dumping Menzies, or Menzies finally realizing that handling airlines who pay in Washers is not worth it !. And how long have DHL been in the A/C handling business ?
|
And any update on BA contract with Menzies?
|
And doubtless just like similar past changes at LTN and STN the same old under-motivated crew will all be made redundant and all get hired en bloc by the "new" company and all that changes is the same old faces, attitudes and "skills" appear one day in a cheap new uniform to wreak the same old havoc on the airline's Ops for another few years before changing to the next cheap new uniform. DHL might even manage to find some fresh "management" with no prior experience in anything, let alone airport ops to "organise" the whole fandango too.
In the automotive world it's called badge engineering. The peanut monkey cycle is well understood but if you don't like the noise in the zoo at least change the monkeys before you go rebranding it, especially if you are planning to serve up the same tired old peanuts at tea-time.. Rien plus ça change! |
And how long have DHL been in the A/C handling business ? DHL are providing all BA short haul catering at LHR. They are more than capable of moving into the passenger world. Good luck to them |

LOL you sound like a fun guy, what have Menzies done to you? :p:p
It doesn't matter what the company is, Menzies, Reeds, DHL, Uncle Tom Cobbley Handling, if you ditch one company the easiest people for the new company to hire in that location are the same staff the old company just released. Nothing much changes but the name which helps nothing if over work and under-motivation of the saff was the problem, and due to the way contract costs are pared below the bone by locos that is almost a given. Probably not all airfields suffer from this but its been a recognisable cycle over the years at some. |
Pretty much all the staff for Easyjet / DHL handling will be the current Menzies North Terminal staff that already are Easyjet dedicated. It'll just be a TUPE situation.
|
Companies usually win contracts by submitting a lower tender. TUPE staff are meant to have protection of employment but the people that I know that have had a TUPE job transfer are the ones that end up paying for the lower tender even though this is not meant to happen as the new company introduces cost savings measures to cover the lower value of the contract.

Love it, got it in one.
