Exclamation Menzies Aviation/Servisair @ Glasgow/Edinburgh

Hi there,

Are there any forum members on PPRuNe who have worked or work for Menzies Aviation or Servisair? I am coming to the end of 22years in the Royal Air Force and have extensive experience in pushback and towing (large a/c), De-icing, Toilet and water services, aircraft refuelling, snow removal and also hold a PSV, HGV1 and full ADR licence for my sins! I am looking at Glasgow or Edinburgh as options, anybody got any advice on recruitment or info - all would be gratefully received.

Colin

Hey Colin.

Glasgow will be doubtful. There is currently a lot of shuffling of staff between companies. Handling Agents recruitment drives are normally around February time for Summer season.

Exclamation

Thanks for the reply,

Perhaps I should have mentioned I finish working in the RAF Jan`13, but paid until my exit date in May! That give me four months to find a job and show an employer what I can do! So will be available for recruitment and hopefully work in the summer.

My friend worked for Menzies and said it was like working for a low cost airline in terms of how much you work and how you're treated.

That said, he is now working ops for a charter airline through contacts & experience he made at Menzies.

seeing as you have an hgv and experience refuelling then youd be as well trying to get a job with BP Conoco. Im not certain but they usually seem to take on people during the summer. Youd make far more money refuelling the aircraft than loading them

I'm working for Menzies at LHR and loving it! At LHR we seemed to be treated quite well in comparison to other Menzies stations within other airports.
The way I see it, I'm in a better position than I was this time last year, and at least this way I'm getting exposure to aviation and along with all the airlines operating out of T1
