Licence conversion can be done at GACA UAE but there are some caveats that you might find difficult to meet.

- Your licence has to be accepted, not all are convertable so if you have one from some funny place that is either unknown to them or not in high regard then you might have to jump through some hoops.
- You will need a dispatcher job in the UAE and a letter from the company explaining that you work there. They don't just convert licences and let you off job hunting.
- At the very least you will probably have to undergo recurrent training at the local shool (Next class in Nov I think)

There is a rumour that the licence period of validity is about to be increased from 2yrs to 8yrs and that the fee for this is going to be big (still waiting to see what happens there, might just be all talk)

Hope that helped,

Good luck.

Thanks Desertopsguy

I Think the Egyptian License can be converted as the course we studied here was the Jeppesen course which is also studied in UAE at Emirates Aviation Academy

The only problem I could see is Obtaining a dispatcher job in UAE before converting the license , recently RAK advertised vacancies for flight dispatchers but UAE License is a main requirement

Do you of any other way to obtain such a letter from any UAE Airline or if any are currently hiring expats ?

Hi,

Their requirement is understandable but more of a convenience for them as they won't have to pay the fee to convert for someone holding a different licence.

That shouldn't stop you from applying. You can do yourself a favour by calling the licencing dept at GACA and asking this question directly. Then, when you have confirmation you can quote this on your CV.

There are companies in the UAE that have been hiring recently, not sure if they still are right now however. Maximus and FlyDubai but experience required. Air Arabia hire from time to time and they have a base in Egypt which might suit you. There are a lot of crappy operators in the UAE too, those cargo and charter outfits mostly in DXB/SHJ where the pay is bad, the conditions are worse (working 6-7days/week, no annual leave, take alot of abuse) and to top that off you can go for months without your salary. Am not going to name them here but it doesn't much to find out who they are.

UAS are hiring flight planners in DXB, maybe consider them too.

All the best.

How can I convert my ICAO Flight Dispatcher Licence into GCCA licence?

Hello all,

I have an ICAO Flight Dispatcher Licence issued by RCAA (Romanina Civil Aviation Authority - the country is European Union member) and I would like to convert my licence in GCAA licence to give me right to work in UAE like Flight Dispatcher.

Please let me know how can I proceed, how much is the conversion fee, how long is take to do it, if can I dot online or offline and if I need to pass some exams as well.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Mihai IONESCU
