Work at the airport

Hello,

I am 16 at the moment, I plan to do A levels after summer, and then take a year or two out to save money to go on a sponsored training scheme like oxford or CTC.

However, I need to start saving now, and just wondering if there are any Jobs a 16 year old can do at the airport? Anything at really, except maybe cleaning toilets and sweeping floors in arrivals.

If anybody knows anything, it would be great to hear back from people.

Thanks for looking

Tom

Working at airports now requires Criminal Disclosure Scotland clearance as well as security clearance for airside passes, which can take time....and expense. So it is not a holiday job or work experience thing any longer. The chances of landing anything are not good. The temporary jobs you could land would give you no aviation experience. Sad, but the world has changed.

You could look at some airport websites and send an email in the 'contact us' section

You may be able to get the jobs you mentioned landside at the airport. It's all done by agency staff these days though. Check the local jobcenter they may be able to help.
Check with the HR department at your local airport. Some of them offer work experience positions.

FBOs

Your best bet would be to try at FBOs....they usually hire front desk or aircraft cleaners...being an aircraft cleaner is not that bad actually u get to see some pretty cool stuff and gets to hang out with ops people alot of the time!

if your 16 you will struggle to get any work related to aviation. You need to be 18+ to get a pass of any kind usually due to the odd hours. To work past 22:00 hours you need to be 18. At least thats what the rule was back in the day

I may be wrong a company may employ you but you would be limited to what hours you could work. I dont know this for sure but i have never met anyone under the age of 18 working in aviation related positions.
