IOM Flight Support Redundancies
Got back to the rock today, and I seen about 20 flight support staff all lined up like naughty school kids awaiting there fait.
rumour has it, that the management were so hell bent on getting the flybe ground handling contract that they under cut manx regional by a massive amount. I also heard that they were able to do this as the euromanx contract apparently helped balance the costs.
interesting to see if flight support can offer flybe such a good deal in the next few months when the contract is up for renewaL

It has been a very upsetting day for the staff at FS and for all concerned. It maybe the nature of this industry that airlines come and go but it's the knock-on effects that also hit hard. FS have lost some very hard working staff today and will be sadly missed.

I have to say that I too witnessed the poor guys and gals of FS in the Terminal yesterday.
I personally thought it was disgusting that the FS Management had not provided a discrete area for them to wait together. They were sitting in full public view before being called into an office somewhere behind the check in desks. There were tears and the whole episode was humiliating for them. Im sure there must have been some discrete place available - Viscount House or even the conference room at the Airport Hotel!
Black Mark to FS management for not being more considerate - good luck to all those who lost their jobs.

manx ramp tramp
I dont find it amusing at all - we all have a mortgage to pay and a family to feed. If i had lost my job, i would be absolutly in bits and financial ruin.
This IS a CRISES comments I 100% agree with, how terrible to put on public show waiting to be shafted by there so called management team. you would have thought that they would have shown a little compasion?
another sad day at the iOM airport.

as a member of staff of MR I sympathise totally with the FS staff there are a lot of good people who have lost their jobs, we were in the same position last year and its no laughing matter. At least our management took us to a private room to deal with the problem and didnt put us on public display.
I wish all those people who have lost their jobs all the best of luck.

Whatever your opinion of FS and it's management unfortunately when an airline the size fo EuroManx (35% of IOM pax) goes under then things have to change. Going from 6 night stopping a/c and 8 check in desks to 5 would always mean redundancies i am afraid. It is never a good thing when redundancies are made, think back 12 months to Manx Regional and BACON. The industry is volatile and always will be. On the subject of management, these are the same people who have gone from 2 check in desks in IOM to having 6 bases and being the largest ground handler in MAN in the space of 3 years! Sorry but I do not agree with the above comments. Although yes a more private location may have been appropriate.

I thought it was interesting how on Wednesday last week (14th) the 'announcement' was made that there would be redundancies within FS, but with no sign of the fearless leader? The next day a story appeared on IOM online that read 'FS MAY be making redundancies after the Euromanx problems'. This was backed up by a statement from FS management on the Thursday stating, and i quote:
"Flight Support's chief executive Brett Turner said up to 20 staff could be affected but stressed no decision had yet been made"
Yet staff had aleady been put on leave and told they would be made redundant!
......hmm interesting!
Staff are rather disgruntled by the fact that certain management weren't around for this rather difficult time in FS, I guess it begs the question, what was more important than redundancies at the home base?

Another interesting question is.... who has actually posted on this thread that is an employee of flight support, possibly one... This is full of people picking away at Flight Support and trying to make stories. Truth is the majority at Flight Support IOM are right behind their management and appreciate how difficult the last month has been and will stick by the company. As for 'the leader' having six bases means unfortunatley other places take priority over IOM. Perhaps its time for other people from other companies around the airport to get on with their job and leave flight support to get on with theirs!

posted on this site especially by.... GMIMA why are you so interested in FS? Besides posting that employees have not been paid... in the middle of the month when it would not be due to the end of the month, you try to comment on staff morale from the point of view of a pax... really G-MIMA grow up and move on...
