Why all this vilification of one person (ex Arsenal) handballing in footy and ignoring the fact that a certain Chelsea player does it almost every match? I saw him do it once; he was caught and Chelsea lost (hee hee)
Previously a current Arsenal player was crucified for an apparent dive but the fact was ignored that a very expensive Man U player who transferred for an outrageous sum actually dived almost every match too.

Susan Boyle's album makes Amazon CD history

Talent show discovery Susan Boyle has seen her new album become the biggest CD pre-order in the history of global online retailer Amazon.

The West Lothian singer's debut album, I Dreamed A Dream, is to be released by Sony Music Entertainment on Monday. Boyle became a star after her April appearance on "Britain's Got Talent", in which she eventually came runner-up.

Amazon said Boyle's album was the biggest CD pre-order in the 14-year-history of its website.

Julian Monaghan, head of music buying at Amazon.co.uk, said: "Just eight months ago, no one was aware of the talents of Susan Boyle. Now, she has generated more Amazon pre-order CD sales globally than any other artist. That is an incredible achievement and is testament to the fact that she has captured the hearts of people all over Britain, America and the rest of the world."

Steve Barnett, chairman of Boyle's record label, Columbia Records, part of Sony Music, said: "One of the things that is so unique about Susan Boyle is her ability to touch people around the world.

"We're excited that I Dreamed A Dream holds the new record for global pre-orders and that Amazon's customers have supported her album in this way."

UK Analogue frequencies to be switched off in c. 2015. This means about 231 wireless machines in the JTR household - at least three of which I use - will be useless. All in favour of a service which (for bandwidth and signal strength reasons - i.e. doing it on the cheap) is mostly measurably inferior than FM in most parts of the UK.

I could see the argument for doing it with TV; we do replace sets fairly frequently, but the FM receiver in the workshop was going back when Diana was still P of Wales - and the quality's still better than the so-called Pure radio in the kitchen.

Why am I surprised?

I'm sitting watching the after effects of the heavy rain in the NW of England on the morning news and listening to the stories of disaster and loss, mostly to property, rather than life thankfully. I'm always amazed that the same scenario seems to happen, whereby water floods in and personal belongings are destroyed to be replaced by insurance, people are 'devastated' and then in a year or so the same happens again :ugh:

Cockermouth seems to have been unduly affected, being at the convergence of two rivers, both swollen from the rainwater off the surrounding fells and from looking at the live pictures i see shops with all their wares sitting in the shop windows presumeably damaged beyond salvage....... The bad weather was forecast and widely publicised for over a week and the residents who live in danger areas must be aware, at least in a vague way that heavy rain means a high risk of raised water levels, yet few had taken precautions.

If i was there i'd have a plan for myself and family to take things upstairs in anticipation (personal items/sentimental items/necessities etc) and then where possible furniture. If people live in a bungalow, then things would more difficult, but still if people know that they could be in danger, it's mad not to have a plan.

Unless, of course people are 'encouraging' the chances of getting help from their friendly insurance company and i'm the naiive one...... :hmm:

More of a question than a statement, I have lived in many parts of the world and have driven in all of them. Now I happen to be in WA and have been somewhat surprised at the total lack of road awareness and decision making your average guy or girl has here. Jumping red lights seems to be a sport and just driving like a dumb red neck with little ability and quite allot of aggression is the norm.

Now don't get me wrong I have driven in much much worse places such as the Middle east and Africa and some parts of Europe.

So my question is this, is bad driving an Australian wide problem or is it limited to WA and why do so many of you drive so badly?:ok:

I know most of you probably missed the significance of today. (Perhaps not all of us, but most.) Today, 19 November, was World Toilet Day. I bet you didn't know that, eh? It is an event hosted by the World Toilet Organization to raise awareness for the 2.5 billion people who live without a proper toilet.

(This is not a joke. If you don't believe me, google it.)

So, with that in mind how will you celebrate World Toilet Day? I realize it's late for most of those across the pond but maybe you can perform one small deed in remembrance of this significant day?

All,

I'm experiencing a bit of a conundrum here today so I'm starting this thread in the hope that all will become clearer to me.

Seems my boss (may Satan bless her black soul) has yet again taken the afternoon off to attend to some MRI/Brain Scan festivities. She usually does this on Friday afternoons or right before a holiday. Today came as a surprise when she pronounced, on her way out the door, that she was gone for the day. Off for her final MRI. (The sound of the starting of her self-propelled broom was heard shortly thereafter. Followed by some ungodly cackling about "and your little dog too.")

So here's my quandary. I always thought that having a brain scan/MRI presupposes one having a brain. Is that not indeed the case? So why would she be having one do you suppose?:confused:

The daughter of Sen. John Kerry has been arrested in Hollywood for allegedly driving drunk.
Los Angeles police say 36-year-old Alexandra Kerry was stopped by officers on a Hollywood street at about 12:40 a.m. Thursday and tested positive for driving under the influence.
Officer Bruce Borihanh says she was booked at the Hollywood police station and was held for about five hours. She was released at about 5:30 a.m. after posting $5,000 bail.
Borihanh didn't immediately have other details.
Alexandra Kerry is the eldest daughter of the Massachusetts senator, the Democrats' 2004 presidential nominee.
She has produced documentaries and has had several small acting roles.
Requests for comment from Alexandra Kerry's agent and John Kerry's office were not immediately returned.

Hey brick: I blame Bush for this. You know why? Apparently she had been drinking too much Busch beer. Thus, we can blame this on Bus(c)h!!!!
