hi,
i'd like to know what is your high speed decision policy in your airlines during take off. I mean, for what reasons are you supposed to perform a stop during take off, at what speed. On A320. On other aircrafts.
My airline request us to perform a stop after 100kts if:
i encounter a loss of power on either eng
or any fire alarm comes up
or i am sure the aircraft cannot fly

Greetings to all

I have another question, maybe answer is obvious, but jus t want to make sure.

Assume you have for example 200 kN engine, full rate. In this case, with thrust lever in full aft position you have 0 kN thrust and in full forward position you have 200 kN thrust, to be simple.

Now you derate the engine so the new max thrust is for example 180 kN. In this case, do you also have the new max 180 kN thrust with TL in full forward position OR 180 kN TL position is somewhere in between full aft and full forward and you have to pay attention to not overboost the engine?

Thanks for enlightening it for me :)

Does anybody fly a 777 that gives an Aural alert when approaching a selected altitude? The one I fly will give an aural alert when departing a captured altitude by about 300 feet from.
I have heard of some airplanes that ,when hand flying, will give an aural alert approaching about 900' from a selected altitude. This aural alert will not sound if the autopilot is flying the aircraft.
If you have this on your airplane would you please describe it and tell me what Boeing calls this system?
Thanks,

I have been reading Davies book, “Handling the Big Jets”. He mentions a swept wing “tricks” the airflow into thinking it is flying at a slower speed which delays the shock wave. My question, is the airfoil the designers selected for the aircraft perpendicular to the leading edge of the wing or is it parallel to the longitudinal axis of the aircraft?

Does anyone know why some DC-3s/C-47s don't have, or have fixed cowl flaps ? All the DC3s here in NZ (pratt powered) that I know of don't have them, yet in the in the flight manual it talks about them (part of the hydraulic system) and all the ones I've seen in other countries and in all photos seem to have them.

Must be a mod yet I've no info on this. Anyone know the details, reason why etc ??

Cheers.

Hi Guys,

Ive recently started working for an A320 operator. The company requires us in the departure profile to have a thr reduction alt of 1000aal and acc alt of 3000aal.

With my previous company both were 1000aal and so im still getting used to the differences within the climb profile.

A few days ago, I was on the SID which had a published stop alt of 6000. Passing about 2000agl, we were cleared direct to FL80.
Consequently I set 8000, but due to alt constraint I then pulled open climb.
This consequently took us from SRS direct to open climb at 1000 lower than as per the profile.

What do you suggest I do as an alternative? I could remove the constraint in the SID or select V/S?
Perhaps in a busy TMA VS would be appropriate but what about in a more isolated airfield??

How significant is accelerating at 3000 agl as opposed to accelerating earlier? Am I perhaps putting too much thought into this or is it not that significant?
My understanding is this is just a noise abatement procedure?

Thanks

SI.
