Trainee Aircraft Mechanic - Interview Questions

Hi there,

I have an upcoming interview for a trainee Aircraft Mechanic position and I would just like some advice on what kind of technical questions to expect.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

as a trainee i think they would ask you common sense questions and safety precautions regarding routine tasks perhaps. or they might just want to talk to you :P i don't think they will ask you anything technical and even if they did it wouldn't matter what you answer since you're a trainee anyways.

Be keen, show interest in the subject, learn what they operate before hand, show dilligence and safety.....

If you can show some knowlege in basics, how an engine works, aircraft flies etc

and if they operate a fleet of say 737's and they say were will you see yourself in 5 years, don't say working on 747's.... tell them you wish to progress with the company and want to attain your licences and grow with them.

When I had my interview for a trainee position, I was asked very little technical questions. If you could call them technical questions at all! I was asked basic things like why do we have an APU. Name the different sources of electrical and hydraulic power. I was then asked about VSV's and VBV's. So my advice would be to obviously just have a basic understanding of aircraft systems.

Most of the interview was HR related. What would you do in this situation? Describe a time when you had to do this? Etc. That was the main bulk of the interview. Obviously you need to understand a bit of the companies history. I think that is a real HR pleaser, when they see you have taken a keen interest in not only the role that you are applying for but also the history behind the company. You could maybe also try to find out what the company plans to do for the future. They obviously don't want you to obtain your licences through the company and then leave! I think in these current times, loyalty goes a long way.

Just a few thoughts. Good luck!

In my experience, if you can quote ATA's or express that you have general knowledge it will give you an edge.

When i had my Interview i wasnt asked to many technical questions either. Just things like what did i do at college and how to use some basic hand tools and how to split pin a nut and bolt! and safety precautions!

Just do a little research on the company you are going to be working for!

Good Luck!
