737NG - major issues on the APU?

Hello,

It would be greatly appreciated, if anyone here can share operational/mtce information on the 131-9B APU as installed on the -600/700/800 series.

In no particular order:
- turbomachinery: are there parts which are more prone to failure (e.g. turbine blades, combustor, etc) which give the maintainer bigger headaches;
- LRUs major issues;
- Controls;
- Troubleshooting (including CAS messages)
- maintainability: ex: accessibility for maintenance.

Any suggestions to improve on this APU model would be of great help.

Thank you

Rexbo

In cold temprature with a high moisture content it sometimes wont start or it will have a auto-shutdown, for the life of me i cannot remember the fault code.But i do recall that their is something about it in boeing maintenace tips.Overall its not a bad a.p.u (from my experience)

APU 131-9 smoke/oil in the cabin?

Hello,

thank you very much for your feedback.

Additional question, please: Are you aware with any oil/smoke in the cabin issue, from this APU model?

Thank you very much.

I handled once a VIP costumer who flow ETOPS with 737NG. The APU was running through the ETOPS part. The combination of high altitude and temperature resulted a rapid usage of the APU and many complaints of Oil smell. They changed in this time (2years) 3 times the APU.
