Question Runway Closure Sydney RWY 34L today?

Anyone know what the problem was with RWY34L about 0830 local today?
We were on base for 34L and were then told the runway was closed.
A Cathay B744 was sitting in the lined up position for quite a long time after?
We were still on "director" so didn't hear what was going on.
Perhaps it wasn't Cathay but debris on the runway from another A/C and he was waiting for the runway to be cleared?
Just curious as to what closed the runway?

Woftam,

Mate, you must have been right behind us - we were on final for 34L, tower then tells us debris on the runway, unsuitable for landing, can we side-step onto 34R, which we duly did..... Fun and games. Yes, Cathay sitting there forever on the 34L threshold - still there after we taxied off 34R. Didn't follow up with any details (too busy trying to coord with the company for a gate to taxi to!) but, yes - looks like CX have lined up and seen something on the concrete ahead...... Sounds like someone went around as a result?
