Post RNZAF withers...

Latest Australian Aviation Mag has an article on the sad state of the RNZAF...

"RNZAF Withers On The Vine"

It comments that along with the 165 personnel made redundant as a result of the Govts axing of the ACF, a further 109 personnel resigned over the decision.

"Its ironic how much damage an ideologically challenged Govt can do to the armed forces - usually considerably more than the enemy"

RNZAF Hobsonville closes this month after nearly 70yrs as an RNZAF Base. Another symbol of a proud service being ritually dismembered by politicians who will blindly tell you that airpower is overrated and that the Pacific Rim is "a benign environment".

Good luck to all those left.... I hope 2002 brings you some respite from the lunatic ravings of the Labour Govt.

In a complete contridiction the mag also contains an article entitled "Airpower Wins Again", detailing the airwar in Afganistan. Go figure?

mrfish, it will take more than luck to save them from what you politely describe as the lunatic ravings of the labour party.

Ideally it would have been best if when the original decision to scrap the strike wing was made if everyone above the rank of pilot officer in the RNZAF had resigned in protest.

It is wishful thinking to hope that such would occurred but it might have been the only action that would have made those loonies in Wellington realise what they were doing.

It just proves that the greatest enemies any country faces are those ensconced within its institutions and in positions of power.

Basically, the only difference between most governments and the Taliban is one of degree rather than idealogy as such.

"We have seen the enemy, and he is one of us."

Unhappy

Just repeating what I have already seen:

"Interesting that they, (the Government of NZ), should see fit to spend so much more on their indigenous problems than their defence"

"It will be some time before we again see a fighter aircraft in our skys, well, one of ours, anyway"
