Red face KAL minor mishap at NZAA

On arrival Thursday, our friends managed to surgically remove one edge light with number four cowl. Very little x-wind to speak of, some passing showers. No PW cowls in AKL, MD-11 sent from ICN with spares. With the impending main runway closure, I'm not sure how KAL landing on 23R/05L will make punters feel comfortable on the taxiway or terminals. There will be very little clearance.

Havent the FAA banned KAL from operating in the USA... due to their shabby record.
If this is true, then NZCAA should consider similar.
Can NZAA afford a on field crash... (only one rwy and you say soon to ldg on the twy!?)
Would an incident like this send AirNZ to the wall... or perhaps the NZ Govt could sell the rest of the RNZAF to bail them out again.
Awful senario, lets hope not.
NZ is already on short finals to 3rd world status.

PS. NZ$8billion/year on welfare. That means you folk could have kept the skyhawks by stopping welfare payments for 4.4hrs!

Cost effective defence, I think not... just cant be a$red can you?

Wink

Oh well, if NZAA goes U/S due to KAL planted in middle of taxiway, there's a spare runway or two just across town that is soon to be rather deserted, that is if WP isn't swallowed up by the Auckland urban sprawl.

Something smells in here....rotten mullet by chance??

Kermit... I apologise if I have caused offence. The last comment is aimed squarely at the NZ Govt who, I believe, have let NZ down.... not at kiwis as a whole. I may be right (or wrong) but I am still allowed an opinion.
Junglie ol shipmate, I left Somerset 3yrs ago meantime hi to to all in the X-Keys, esp Cass & Gibbo. See you at the next JCTP.
Happy New Year to you both.
