DEC's for REX?

Rumour only!

Just received a text message from a friend saying "hey go_soaring, just wondering if you could e-mail me any info that you think would be useful for helping my friend get through an interview with Rex, applying for Capt position...". This person is coming over from America.

I guess it could be read two different ways, he's either asking for info re: the interview for DEC or; asking for info about DEC's without knowing that he'd have to start as an FO.

Anyone else have any suspicions? I'll try and suss it out further.

DEC's will happen, the only question is when!

I suspect once Rex starts, Q/Link will be about six months behind.

Howie some of your mates down south, are about to be offered a DEC on a nice shiny SAAB 340 I believe.

The way REX is being stripped of experienced pilots, DEC's may only be a matter of time. Three conditions will have to be satisfied however before this can come about.

Anyone like to guess what they are?

Update

G'day All,

Just received an e-mail back from this bloke in the states, he initially got an invitation in reference to being a captain. He then went on to say that he received an e-mail from REX yesterday in reference to being a FO for a bit, which he said he was equally looking forward to (to learn the way of the all mighty SAAB!)..

I guess 'a bit' means the normal fast progression to Command these days

Time will tell, and like K34 said - it's only a matter of time I think

Anyways, safe flying

Morning soaring,

Too true. I said before that the way things are at the moment, all new REX pilots are virtually DEC's, with a 6 month period in the right seat to "learn" the ropes.

Any Idea what experience level this bloke from the States has?

He's a ****-ter captain, pretty confident now that he's going for a FO interview.
