January 31, 2005 - 12:47PM

A pilot died when his helicopter crashed in a field in southern NSW today.

Rescue workers were called to a property 10km east of the rural town of Moulamein, north-west of Deniliquin, after reports a Robo 22 helicopter had crashed, a NSW police spokeswoman said.

The pilot, who was the sole occupant, was incinerated in the crash which happened about 8am (AEDT), she said.

The cause of the crash remained unclear.

The man was yet to be identified.

Crime scene investigators and air traffic safety officers were expected to arrive at the scene shortly, the spokeswoman said.
