Translation required

I wonder if some one could translate English to Pidgin for me.
My wife and I were in Papua New Guinea from 1971 to the end of 1973. I was based in Daru for about 15 months then in Wewak for the remainder of that time. Flying Islanders for Biscuit Ears, for better or worse.
Anyway during that time (before computers and almost a decent telephone system) we sent a lot of letters back home. Now family members saved all our letters and we now have them back. My wife has put them all in a folder and would like to label them “Letters from the Jungle” in Pidgin. About the only pidgin I can remember is ,pek pek, puk puk and push push (spelling?)
Any help appreciated.

From memory, something like this may suffice. Perhaps some of the current residents may be able to correct it. It has been a while

QAM Cessna 402

Thanks Tinpis and others for your contributions. I think we now have enough information to facilitate the restoration of P2-GKF in the Talair orange livery.

In relation to Anakid's query, I know there are pidgin dictionaries online but has anyone given any thought to compiling a glossary of pidgin aviation terms?

Regards

Tinpis hi, yes Aerial Tours house was next to the pub, always plenty of action outside when it closed on Friday and Saturday nights. I guess that’s where I realised that the local’s tolerance to alcohol was pretty low.
Don’t recall Eddy, the only character I can remember was Arthur Wyborn (the refueller).
He also ran the local picture establishment and before the movie started we would be shown the Movietone News of the Second World War. During the main movie he would quite often make comments about it over the P.A..
The Company also had a house to the south of the airfield that was a source of many party’s when there were other crews staying in Daru.

2 dogs, NZ2, and F.B.Fairing, thanks for that about pidgin tok.

Courtesy of Trevor Michie's PNG Gossip...

** Bulolo Airport **

The newly upgraded Bulolo airport has opened with the arrival of an Airlines of PNG Dash 8 aircraft on the 13th of February. The plane was welcomed by traditional dancers from East Sepik and Morobe as well as being hosed down by the PNG Forest Products fire fighters.

** Marijuana Seizure **

Police carrying out random cargo checks at Port Moresby's Jackson's Airport have seized about 4kgs of dried marijuana at a street value of up to K4,000 off a chartered flight from Tapini. The marijuana was concealed in amongst bags of peanuts.

If anyone can add to the Air Niugini or the Airlines of PNG (Milne Bay Air) history please send an email to this newsletter and I will pass it on. Does anyone have a picture of the MBA Grumman Goose?

The Goose was swapped? for an Aero commander ex Philippines( by a well known ex TPNG pilot) and sat for many a moon in PNG. I believe that numerous ad's had never been complied with in rp. Not sure where the AC went to from POM.

OZ2- Only mention I can find aon HC is August 1992: P2-HCF H500 crashed 3 miles out of Mt Hagen due engine failure. Pilot T. Deaker. non fatal. Nothing found in February 1990-91-93.

Cheers.

A2 - P2-HCL, was burnt to the wooden boards it was standing on, in the middle of the night at Mt Kari (10,000 ft). Feb 92. By a hoard of angry locals.

Oz + 212.

Still nothing found for that date and can only assume that as it was not an flying incident or accident, destruction not listed under such. Rego must have been deleted tho' so maybe more info available from PNG CAA.
Happy flying!

Angel P2-HCL

Thanks for the info. She had an interesting past, was with Air America, been shot at, blown engines, crashed, etc., even crashed on a test flight after being sold by AA, prior to going to PNG.

A2. P2-HCL is a dead ship,as a B204 for Hevilift Feb 92'.
It's mast & head is lying in a gully 20 mtrs from the Porgera goldmine aviation accomodation. It was lifted down to there & dumped.
Maybe the two pilots that walked down the mtn that night could add in !?
