Lear Jet Hits Power Lines

In the Adelaide Advertiser this morning, an article about a "Lear Jet" hitting power lines near Leigh Creek yesterday while filming. Article said $100,000 damage to the aircraft.
I also heard 5km of line bought down.

Anyone know any more.

By chance I was in Parachillna earlier in the week and was listening to some of the "stories" the helo cameramen were telling. They said the altitude they had the jet at that day and it was very low. Actually too low for me and I have spent a few thousand hours below 500ft.

The aircraft came through Adelaide last week on its way to Sydney. The learjet was a Clay Lacey machine and was filming around Leigh Creek until poor weather cancelled the work for several days.

Sounds like good advertising for learjet - learjet vs powerlines, learjet wins

Aircraft is registered to a Lacy Hershel Clay from Van Nuys in California.

Believe she got so p****d off with the media ringing her after they got wind of the incident that she turned her mobile off & refused to answer the landline!

Leigh Creek, William Creek - fair distance apart.

Don't think so from what I heard. Not when it happened anyway.

Out there mid-April on the way to Coober Pedy. Business picked up a bit since the northern part of Lake Eyre filled up. Can't park in front of the pub anymore. Never did get to hear the end of that story about the two swedish backpackers in the ute!

Cheers Atlas!

Well you'd have to expect the unexpected, it is heading right on into 'backpacker' season after all.
