Can't re-connect to Mobile Data after changing Sim Card-iphone/ios11

We took a iphone from home to Europe, with a Travelsim inserted (for use with European networks). All went well when in Europe, but when we got home and re-inserted our normal sim, calls and SMS work, but Mobile data doesn't.

When I go to Settings, the mobile data section has no option to change APNs etc, but when I re-insert the Travelsim, the options for APNs re-appear and display the various manual settings for the Travelsim. Some could be deleted, others just came back into the fields.

I have reset the Network settings (Settings>General>Reset).

I have done a reboot with the home sim in.

Home sim works in my Galaxy. :ok::ok::ok::ok:

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you have an Apple Store within easy travel distance, it is well worthwhile taking the phone and SIM card in to them to sort out.

Try a factory reset of the phone with no SIM card inserted and only insert the home SIM card after the phone has been reset.

The SIM card works fine in another phone and previously worked fine in the iPhone, so individually each device is probably working correctly. I would theorise that some data is being retained in the iPhone from the travel SIM which needs a full factory reset to remove. You will lose all the data on your phone with a factory reset, so make sure all data is backed up using iTunes or the cloud, as detailed in Apple's instructions.

Make sure you have the latest version of iOS installed, it should be 10.3.3 or higher. Go to Settings, General, Reset, Erase All Content and Settings.

Thanks Gouli, I didn't think of that. Will do that today.

Advised by Apple man to clear all settings and make a booking for techies if that didn't work. It didn't and we couldn't wait for an appointment so we ended up doing a full reset and set it up as a "new" phone. That fixed it.

Won't be using a "Travelsim" in an iphone again!

Thanks for the update. I rather suspected that you would have to do that. It can happen when swapping SIM cards, especially between different regions or countries because of the different network settings required.

The annoying part was when we put in the Travelsim/European SIM card, we could change all the network settings/APN etc. When we put the Aussie sim back in, the options to change disappeared; they just weren't there.
