WiFi security is meant to keep unauthorized users from freeloading on your WiFi connection. If you need an actual secured connection, your web browser or other application should be using some sort of encryption (https, TLS, etc.). Sadly, too many IoT (Internet of Things) devices like TV sets depend solely on the security of their connection, having fixed passwords, or none at all. That gives hackers a foot in the door to install malware on these devices. And then hop onto your phone or PC.
