Have you got a 3G / 4G SIM with a data contract / PAYG? Have you enabled data?

Or are you unable to connect to wifi hotspots?

Is it the case that it was working previously, and has now stopped or has it never worked ?

Same thing happened to me,I was on holiday and missed paying a bill.Once I paid it,wonder of wonders,it started working again

Have you tried turning OFF wifi when out and about ? Sometimes smartphones can be not so smart, and get confused and not fallback properly onto 3G or 4G, just continue to hunt for wifi.

Hi guys...its 3g monthly contract...I dont use the internet very often on the phone so cannot pinpoint when the prob occurred...but it used to work fine.

The only wi-fi I use is on the home set-up from a Virgin hub.

I will switch wi-fi off for a while.

Got the phone through car-phone warehouse....the 2 year contract must be up anytime soon but I have not heard from CW.

I wonder...if I am not signed into google could that effect things...

it is probably the phone. My first smart phone was a G Ace. Initially the internet was poor on the phone network but not having had a smart phone before I didn't know what to expect. I put it down to phone coverage in my area. It was fine for browsing when on WiFi and I had very little phone call usage. When I started to use it for a few phone calls I found that it would drop calls repeatedly both around home and further afield. Then I noticed that the signal strength displayed by the phone was going to full for a few seconds and then dropping down to nothing over a few seconds and then jumping back to full. It was doing this all of the time. I took it back to CaonWarehs and showed them the issue.

They sent it off to their repair shop where the fault description was ignored, the phone reprogrammed, given a cursory test and shipped back to me. On receipt the problem was just the same so as I was already at CaonWarehs I showed the shop staff the problem, filled paperwork etc.

After it had been back to the repair shop for the fourth time I lost my temper with the whole outfit and demanded they do something different. CaonWarehs started to blame Samsung for the problem and Samsung told me it was the CaonWarehs repair shop ineptness. Eventually they exchanged it for an HTC Desire S which my partner still uses as I had bought another phone in the meantime.

Good luck,

Rans6......

Wife has Galaxy Ace 1. Internet via wifi fine, internet via phone co has always been bad. bad. bad.

It also has a tiny memory, which a few apps gobble up. I deleted all her apps and things worked better for a while.

However, now SWMBO wants guarantees that apps work............so buying a new phone. (Core Prime as it is cheap but does most things reasonably well).

Have you used up your data allowance? Depends on the operator. Quite often there is no warning that you have. Check that first.

No plenty left...but I did discover that my 2 year contract was up...its with talkmobile...asked them if they have turned it of...defiantly no he said.

No prob with the phone and he said I can just continue with the contract...they haven't stopped it.

The Mysteries of Connection: my tablet doesn't like my home wifi network but connects with great enthusiasm when out and about.

Everything and everyone else can connect instantly to my home network including my other devices, just my tablet that will only after much work.

And yes it is password-protected, and a few other things beside.
